About

About

Wazo Africa LLP is a policy and legislative drafting practice registered in Kenya. We work for public bodies, associations, development programmes and businesses on the questions where policy, law and delivery meet.

What we believe

Outcomes in policy and public-interest litigation are the product of preparation, not luck. The Constitution of Kenya, 2010 offers real room to challenge settled practice — but to use it you need a well-grounded argument, the best available evidence, and a claim narrow enough to win. We bring that discipline to drafting, to advocacy and to the commercial cases we build.

How we work

  • Evidence first. Before a petition or a Bill, the record — affidavits, expert opinion, comparative practice, a documented history of engagement.
  • Find the ground you can hold. One firm textual or constitutional footing, argued well, beats five weak ones.
  • Draft to the architecture. Legislation that respects the division of functions, the parent Act and the treaties that bind Kenya.
  • Leave a usable record. Every engagement produces documents a client can rely on afterwards.

Who we are

Ochieng Ombaka is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the practice’s lead policy analyst. His work spans county legislative drafting (rangeland management and livestock trade Bills across several counties), national legislation in the religious sector, environmental and biodiversity law under the IDLO Aichi programme, devolution and intergovernmental relations, public petitions to the National Assembly, and reviews of tax and finance legislation. He has also advised on the Law Society of Kenya statutes review.

He is an aspiring Member of Parliament for Dagoretti North. His campaign is at pewachange.co.ke.
