Laikipia Rangeland Management Bill

Wazo Africa prepared the first draft of the Laikipia Rangeland Management Bill, together with a concept note setting out the policy case. The Bill follows a common template developed for rangeland counties: a county rangeland steering committee, a directorate within the responsible department, sub-county and ward rangeland committees, provisions for rangeland zoning and grazing plans, and a dedicated rangeland fund.

The draft is written to sit within the county’s legislative competence under the Fourth Schedule to the Constitution and to align with national policy on rangelands and pastoralism.
